Sudama Singh, age 17. The problems with his hand started four years ago. Sudama used to work in one of the coalmines and load coal onto the trucks. He is not able to do that so works in house construction as he can. He needs to work for a living. The fingers in the right hand have curled up, they are turning black and the top of his first and second fingers are eroding away. His hands are dirty because he has just come from work. The area is now known as the “Energy Capital of India” because after large the coal deposits were found many thermal power stations opened. Chemical plants and other industrial operations also came to the area.
