Gar Bandha, Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, India. The village of Gar Bandha, near Renutsagar power plant. A village resident baths in the village water supply because even though a 2012 study by the Center for Science and Environment in Delhi found high concentrations of mercury and arsenic in the water, soil, and cereals that are grown here. There is no other available water to bath in. Residents of Rensunagar live close to the many power lines that skirt the Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar reservoir of Rihand Dam that supplies water to the region.
